How to buy GLP-1 medicines legally in the USA
The legal ways to buy or order Wegovy, Zepbound, Ozempic, Mounjaro and GLP-1 pills in the US — prescriptions, pharmacies, telehealth and direct-from-manufacturer.

Every GLP-1 medicine is prescription-only in the US. There is no legal way to purchase them without a valid prescription from a licensed prescriber.
Step 1: Get a prescription
From your own doctor or from a telehealth service whose prescribers are licensed in your state. A real consultation reviews your medical history, current medicines and any personal or family history of thyroid cancer.
Step 2: Choose where to fill it
- Your local or mail-order pharmacy, billed to insurance when covered.
- Direct-from-manufacturer self-pay: NovoCare Pharmacy (Wegovy, Ozempic, Wegovy pill) and LillyDirect (Zepbound, Mounjaro, Foundayo).
- Telehealth programs that send prescriptions to licensed pharmacies.
Step 3: Check the pharmacy is legitimate
Use the NABP's safe.pharmacy lookup. Legitimate online pharmacies require a prescription, are licensed in your state and have a US address.
Red flags
- No prescription required
- "Research use only" peptides or powders
- Payment by crypto, gift card or wire only
- Ordering through WhatsApp or social media DMs
- Pens labeled for another country
In August 2026 the FDA issued warning letters to online sellers of products marketed as semaglutide, tirzepatide and retatrutide. Foreign-labeled pens are unapproved in the US even when genuine.
